Wales expertise in the aerospace industry was hailed today by Lord Bourne as the Wales Office minister toured the renowned Farnborough International Airshow.

Lord Bourne met executives from companies including GE Aviation, Airbus, Magellan and Raytheon together with representatives from smaller suppliers.

The Wales Office Minister said: Aerospace sustains thousands of jobs in Wales from the wings made by Airbus to radar systems.

This week we have seen major new orders for Airbus from Virgin Airways and Indian carrier Go Air*. Busy order books show that Wales is open for business with companies providing highly skilled jobs.

Wales is a perfect place to invest because of our skilled workforce, the network of established suppliers for aviation and a UK Government that is determined to help them do well. The skys the limit for this industry in Wales.

Lord Bourne saw at first hand the latest developments in airline technology at the shows innovation zone and watched an air display.

On Monday this week, former Prime Minister David Cameron visited the airshow and hailed aviation as one of the economys greatest strengths.
