Read the conformation standard guidance on the Scottish Government website to help you decide whetheryour dog is an XL Bully and requires a certificate of exemption. The closing date forapplications is 31 July 2024.

You can only use this service if you live in Scotland.

How to get a certificate of exemption

Before you apply, read the guidance on the Scottish Government website to find outabout the conditions you must meet - including getting the dog neutered andmicrochipped, and taking out third party public liability insurance.

Apply for a certificate of exemption in Scotland

You can use this online service for 1 dog per application. You must complete anapplication for each dog you wish to register.

If your dog has already beenneutered, you and your vet must fill in aconfirmation ofneuteringform after you have applied for the exemption. Your vet must then return the form to Scottish Government.You must then return the form to the Scottish government.
