If youve not got your P60 yet or cant find it

We understand that you might not have your financial evidence for tax year 2023-24 yet or you might find it hard to give us the evidence weve asked for.

Dont worry if you cant give us your P60, we can accept a copy of your March 2024 payslip as long as it shows the total year to date figures.

If you havent got an email about finalising the current year income assessment and/or are unsure of how to do this

Weve emailed parents and partners of students to ask them to confirm their financial information.

If you did not get this email, follow the steps below to finalise the assessment:

  • Download and save the Financial Information Confirmation form (PDF, 217KB). Complete the form and then upload it to your online account by going to the application you supported for the academic year 2023/24 and selecting upload supporting evidence.
  • Upload your tax year 2023-24 financial evidence. The form explains what documents you can provide.
  • You dont need to sign the form if youre uploading it to your online account. However, if you choose to upload the form through someone elses account, the form should be fully signed and dated in ink or we cannot accept it.

If you cannot upload your form, you should return it with clear photocopies of your evidence to:

Student Finance England
PO Box 210
Darlington
DL1 9HJ

It can take 4 to 6 weeks to process, but well contact the student by email or post as soon as weve updated their application. They can also check their account for updates.

If youre self-assessed or self-employed and cannot provide evidence yet

If you havent submitted your tax return for tax year 2023-24 and you cant do it until later in the year, you can delay the finalisation.

Youll still need to complete the form weve sent you and confirm your up to date estimates. Tick the box in section 5 to let us know that you havent submitted your tax return yet. Well contact you in February 2025 to remind you to send your evidence.

If you have no income to declare

You still need to return the Financial Information Confirmation form (PDF, 217KB) and include a note to let us know you have no income to declare.

Once we get your form, we may contact you again for further information on how you supported yourself.

If a sponsor dies after a current year income assessment has been awarded

If a sponsor passes away after the student is awarded a current year income assessment, well need to see the deceased sponsors death certificate and financial evidence to finalise the application.

Send a cover letter explaining that the sponsor is deceased, a copy of the death certificate and any financial evidence you have for tax year 2023-24. Once we have this, well pro-rate their income from the beginning of the academic year to when they passed away.

If the student is returning to their studies in academic year 2024 to 2025 and your income has dropped by 15% or more

You can complete another Current Year Income assessment form for academic year 2024 to 2025. The process will be the same as before. Youll need to tell us what your estimated income will be for the tax year 2024-25.

You can download and complete the Current Year Income assessment form then upload it to your online account.
