Details

Are you eligible to apply for a Current Year Income (CYI) assessment for 2023/24?

To get a CYI assessment for the 2023/24 academic year, you must already have supported your child or partners student finance application by providing your income details for the 2021-22 tax year.

You will qualify for an assessment if your household income for the 2023-24 tax year was:

  • at least 15% lower than it was in 2021-22
  • less than 58,291

If your household income in 2023-24 was more than 58,291 a year but less than 70,040 a year, you may still qualify depending on the students circumstances.

If your income was 25,000 or less

If your income was 25,000 or less for the 2021-22 tax year, the student may already be receiving the full amount theyre entitled to. You might still be able to apply for an assessment using your details from the 2023-24 tax year if the student needs it to get:

How to apply

Usually for a CYI assessment, we would ask you for an estimate of your household income for the 2023-24 tax year using the Current Year Income Assessment form. However, because that tax year has already ended, you can skip the estimates form and just tell us what your actual household income was using the Financial Information Confirmation Form (PR2) instead.

To request a CYI assessment, you need to:

  • download and complete the Financial Information Confirmation Form (PR2) on this page
  • send us evidence of your household income, the form will explain what types of evidence we can accept
