This work was commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE) in partnership with the Cabinet Office as part of Inclusive Britain, the governments response to the independent Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities report.

This study contributes to action 30 of Inclusive Britain that commits DfE to:

investigate the strategies used by multi-academy trusts who are most successful at bridging achievement gaps for different ethnic groups and raising overall life chances

The qualitative study was designed to be a preliminary investigation which involved:

• conversations with national stakeholders
• a series of interviews with leaders within 9 multi-academy trusts

The report may be useful for leaders of schools and trusts.
