Details

Afghans living in temporary bridging accommodation in the UK under the UKs 2 resettlement schemes, Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) and Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) are being given additional support to find settled accommodation.

The use of hotels and serviced accommodation has ensured Afghans arriving under the ACRS and the ARAPhave been housed safely. However, in the long term we want people to be able to put down roots in communities through suitable long-term accommodation.

The move away from hotels and serviced accommodation will help provide more stability for households so they can rebuild their lives in the UK and ensure they benefit from consistency of public services, schooling, and employment.

From late April 2023 households will be notified of when their hotel or serviced accommodation will end. This process will be staggered with a notice period of 3 months.

Supporting information

To help Afghans find their own accommodation, information available to them includes a letter about the changes to the Enhanced Matching Process in English, Dari and Pashto. We have also published operational guidance on managing vulnerable households.
