Improvement work on the M11 worth 4.7million, announced last month, will begin on Monday 8 February and continue until the summer, providing smoother and safer journeys for drivers.
The first phase of work will begin in February and involve resurfacing the M11 southbound at junction 8. The work will be carried out overnight from 10pm until 6am and is expected to last two weeks.
Further embankment and drainage work will take place on the M11 at junction 8 from 26 February.
Highways England project manager, Jennie Fraser, said:
This work will improve safety and provide smoother journeys for the thousands of drivers that use these roads each day.
We understand this package of schemes will cause some disruption for drivers and we have planned to carry out the work overnight to reduce the impact.
We have been working with Stansted Airport about these works but I would urge holiday makers and motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time in case of any delays.
At the end of February work will take place on the M11 at junction 7, road marking, barrier renewal and resurfacing work on the A120 between Trinity and Stansted.
Work has been underway since the end of January on the M11 at junction 6, involving extensive embankment and drainage work, and this work will not involve any closures.
The 4.7million contract is part of Highways Englands commitment in the region to improve safety and ensure better journey experiences across the East regions busiest roads.
