Passports and visas
- You dont need a visa to travel to Finland, but your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay in Finland. Ensure that next of kin details are kept up to date.
- Remember to get your free European Health Insurance Card EHIC before leaving the UK. The EHIC isnt a substitute for medical and travel insurance, but it entitles you to state provided medical treatment that may become necessary during your trip. No medical services are provided free of charge in Finland.
- If you lose your passport you will need to apply for an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) at the Consular Section of the British Embassy in Helsinki. The fee for an ETD is 95 (approx 123 EUR) payable by cash (Euros only) or Visa/MasterCard credit cards. You will need to submit one passport photo in colour and a paper copy of your flight details to apply.
Getting to the stadium

From Airport: Local bus 615 to main railway station (from there a 2km walk to the Olympic Stadium) tickets from the driver at 5 (please pay with small change).

Taxis are expensive, from Airport to the stadium 50-60 (30-40mins), Yellow Line minibus taxis can take several persons at a lower rate (5-7 persons) booking desk at arrival level.
At the match

access to the stadium can be slow - there will be ticket checks and body searches at the entrance to the turnstiles; to avoid a last minute bottleneck get to the stadium early.

Items banned in UK are likely to be banned at the Olympic stadium as well.
Tips
- as in any other city beware of pickpockets and bag snatchers at airports, railway stations, around the town centre and when using public transport - only carry what you need and leave spare cash and valuables in hotel safety deposits
- Drinking in the street, non designated pub or restaurant areas is prohibited in Finland
- Dont get involved with drugs - the penalties are severe. Drugs and drink driving laws are stricter in Finland than in the UK. Possession of even small quantities can lead to heavy fines and/or imprisonment.
