New Insurance Services agreement expected to save £10 million

Crown Commercial Service

Following on from the success of the first Insurance Services agreement (RM958), the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) - acting as the contracting authority - has worked collaboratively with 3 purchasing organisations, YPO, ESPO and NEPO, to develop a new, improved and customer focused Insurance Services agreement for the public sector.

To better understand the complex insurance market and the different ways insurance is bought, the partners extensively engaged with the industry and public sector customers in the development of the new agreement.

This has resulted in an easy to use and compliant agreement, which is expected to save the public sector in the region of 10 million over its lifetime and features new areas of insurance cover, such as suretyship and claims handling.

Matt Denham, CCS Commercial Delivery Director commented: Delivering efficiencies and cost savings to our customers is paramount, as is providing a quick and efficient route to market. Hearing the views of our customers and suppliers was a vital part of the process to deliver a first class agreement and ensure the needs of our buyers are met and that we take advantage of innovation in the supplier market.

Public sector buyers can also find out more about the agreement and how it can deliver benefits for their organisation at a launch event in London on 12 May 2016. To register to attend this event please email insurance@crowncommercial.gov.uk
