Guidance: Reception baseline assessment: quality monitoring visit guidance

Standards Testing Agency

June 29
13:21 2023

Details

Quality monitoring visits will be carried out by National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER), on behalf of the Standards and Testing Agency (STA), and there will be no requirement for local authorities (LAs) to undertake any RBA quality monitoring visits.

All quality monitors will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience of working in schools, often in leadership roles. The vast majority will have experience in early years specifically.

This guidance covers information on:

  • preparing for visits
  • what visits must cover
  • what to do when observing the assessment
  • how you should record information for each visit

During your visits, you will need to observe administration of the RBA to make sure the school is following the administration guidance correctly.
