The Water Restoration Fund (WRF) has 2 types of grants, development and delivery awards, to fund projects that restore and improve water and wetland environments such as:

  • rivers and their headwaters
  • canals
  • lakes
  • ponds
  • wetlands - both freshwater and saltwater
  • estuarine waters

Development awards

Development awards are short-term grants to build capability and help you design and plan future projects.

Grant value: from 75,000 to 250,000
Project length: 6 to 12 months
Project start date: from July 2024
Project end date: within 12 months of the project start date

Delivery awards

Delivery awards are medium to long-term grants to help you carry out projects youve already planned.

Grant value: from 500,000 to 2 million
Project length: 12 to 30 months
Project start date: from July 2024
Project end date: by 31 March 2027

  3. Complete your application and email it with any supporting evidence to grants@rpa.gov.uk

If your application is successful, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) will send you a grant funding agreement (GFA).

When you can apply

Applications for all grants are open until 11.59pm on Friday 7 June 2024.
