CCF achievements

The Fund was established to recognise the unique role the Copeland community plays in hosting the national Low Level Waste Repository close to the village of Drigg in West Cumbria. Since CCF first opened in 2010, over 195 projects in Copeland have been sponsored and a further 166 community groups supported.

The Funds Community Development Team offer help and advice to community groups and organisations. They also manage the grants given by CCF, working closely with the NDA, Copeland Borough Council and Cumbria County Council. The Board is made up of independent members, representatives from the 2 authorities and the NDA.

Brian Hough, represents the NDA on the Fund Board, and said:

The Fund has made a tremendous impact locally through the numerous community groups and projects we support. The enthusiasm and positive action generated by those who benefit and the team who make it all work are testament to that strong sense of community that exists in the area. Being able to make direct grant support is fantastic, but working with community groups we have attracted an additional 28m for the area. This is something we should be extremely proud of.

John Rowland, Chairman of the Fund Board, said:

I firmly believe CCF has been a fantastic success, and this event will showcase all the Funds fantastic achievements over the past 5 years.

As a board member, I get to see first hand the fantastic impact the fund is having across Copeland. The funds team work closely with community groups to help them identify and secure a range of funding sources. This means more money is attracted to the area, and enables the Funds money to go so much further.
