More than 150 people, including a representative of the London VAPC, attended the Lloyds and City of London Branch of the Royal British Legion supper on 11 May 2016.

The annual event sees guests from RBL homes and organisations such as the War Widows Association, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, Headley Court and POW groups join together for a convivial evening of companionship and remembrance.

Branch chairman Mark Drummond-Brady said:

We were delighted to be able to invite so many of the RBL homes that we support throughout the year for such an enjoyable evening. Apart from the guests from our homes, we were also honoured to host Bob Gamble, OBE, Head of Armed Forces Engagement and Charles Bryrne, newly appointed Director General, both of Royal British Legion Head Office.

Paul Clabburn, of London VAPC, added:

It was an honour to be asked to attend to represent London VAPC and it was a lovely evening. It was a pleasure to meet some of the veterans who attended. A particular highlight was chatting to a 90 year old from the Somerset Legion who had lied about her age to join up and then served as a cook, following the British Army into Germany. I was particularly pleased to see that she marched out carrying 2 bottles of wine she had won in the raffle!
