Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the King Hussein Cancer Centre in Amman, Jordan signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding on 31 October 2013. This sealed a partnership which will see some of Leeds pioneering expertise and innovations in cancer treatment shared and developed in the Middle East.

The Leeds Cancer Centre at St Jamess University Hospital is one of the largest providers of oncology services in the UK and a global leader in the field. It will be working with the King Hussein Cancer Centre on a mutually beneficial collaboration across the spectrum of cancer including training, teaching and research, as well as the delivery of healthcare.

Healthcare UK helped to establish the partnership by bringing the two parties together.

Linda Pollard, Chair of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which includes Leeds Cancer Centre, signed the Memorandum of Understanding with HRH Princess Ghida of Jordan, the Chair of the King Hussein Cancer Centre.

This signing was part of the British Business Pavilion activities during the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum, held in London 30 -31 October.
