Guidance: How to make a capital or revenue claim for Countryside Stewardship

Make a revenue claim

Wemust receive your claim, and any supporting documents and evidence that need to be submitted with your claim, by 11:59pm on 15 May 2024.

Wewill apply late reductions to claims received after this deadline depending on when we receive the claim:

  • between 16 May 2024 and 31 May 2024: a reduction of 5% of your total payment for this claim year will be applied
  • between 1 June 2024 and 1 July 2024: a reduction of 10% of your total payment for this claim year will be applied
  • between 2 July 2024 and 2 September 2024: a reduction of 25% of your total payment for this claim year will be applied
  • after 11.59pm on 2 September 2024: your payment will be withheld for this claim year, unless you have a good reason or other exceptional circumstances apply

If this is the first year of your agreement, you must submit a revenue claim in 2024.

Make a claim online

You canclaim online using the Rural Payments service. Once youve signed in, select View business then scroll down the business overview to Countryside Stewardship claims.

On the Countryside Stewardship claims screen, click the button Annual Declaration to make your annual revenue claim.

You can then use the on-screen Help link to take you through each process step-by-step.

Make a claim by email or post

If youre unable to claim online, youll need tocontactRPAby phone or emailto request a revenue claim form.

Follow the guidance onhow to complete yourCSrevenue claim form by email or post.

Send your completed form, supporting documents and evidence (where relevant) to us by post or emailusing our contact details.

Make a capital claim

You can submit a capital claim at any time of year. However, this must be:

  • within 3 months of the end of your agreement - a late claim reduction will apply if the claim is received between 3 and 6 months
  • after the capital work is finished
  • after you have been charged or invoiced

Make a CS claim online

You can claim online using the Rural Payments service. Once youve signed in, select View business then scroll down the business overview to Countryside Stewardship claims.

On the Countryside Stewardship claims screen, select the Create a new Countryside Stewardship Capital Claim green button:

  • Create a new Countryside Stewardship Capital Claim 2024
  • Create a new Countryside Stewardship Capital Claim 2023

You can then use the on-screen Help link to take you through each process step-by-step.

Make a Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) Pilot capital claim online

You can create and submit the capital claim under the Countryside Stewardship claims section in your Rural Payments account. Select your SFI Pilot Capital Grant agreement and click the Create a new Countryside Stewardship capital claim button.

Please contact RPA if you have any difficulties with the online process.

Make a claim by email or post

If youre unable to claim online, youll need to contact RPA by phone or email to request a capital claim form.

Follow the guidance on how to complete your CS capital claim form by email or post.

Send your completed form, supporting documents and evidence (where relevant) to us by post or email using our contact details.

If youre a SFI Pilot Capital Grant customer, you can only submit your claim online as we do not accept paper claim forms under the SFI Pilot scheme. However, you can send supporting evidence for your claim by email or post.
