The UK and Argentina agreed to strengthen links and increase co-operation across a range of bilateral and international issues, following a two-day summit in London hosted by Sir Alan Duncan.

At the summits conclusion, the Minister joined Argentinas Deputy Foreign Minister Pedro Villagra Delgado to sign the mandate and project details agreed in Geneva on 9 December, enabling the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to carry out the identification of Argentine soldiers buried in Darwin cemetery on the Falkland Islands.

Throughout the talks, the two ministers maintained a constructive dialogue on South Atlantic issues agreeing a way forward for setting up an additional air service from the Falkland Islands to South America, and recognising the importance of data exchange in relation to fisheries stocks in the South Atlantic and the need for discussion of this issue early in 2017.

The talks also covered progress since the Joint Statement of 13 September and areas for future cooperation on a wide range of bilateral and international issues including trade, scientific cooperation and human rights.
