Statistics on road freight transported by UK registered Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) internationally between July 2021 and June 2022.
International road freight activity by UK-registeredHGVstransporting freight internationally decreased in the 12-month period ending June 2022 compared to the same period ending June 2021:
- the amount of goods lifted decreased by 1% from 6.13 million to 6.07 million tonnes
- the amount of goods moved increased by 1% from 3.68 billion to 3.71 billion tonne kilometres
The previous announcements of the UK leaving the EU and subsequent transition period, along with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and resulting supply chaindisruption, have caused higher levels of volatility in freight statistics over the past 2 years. Therefore, caution should be taken when comparing these data to previous time periods.
