DFIDs new guidance on ethics for research, evaluation and monitoring activities replaces the DFID ethics principles for research and evaluation published in 2011.

The new guidance includes DFIDs revised principles and standards that should underpin and guide all research evaluation and monitoring activities funded by DFID.

This guidance is structured around the 4 stages of the project cycle to prompt consideration of ethical issues throughout the process:

  • Stage 1: Commissioning, planning and design
  • Stage 2: Data collection and analysis
  • Stage 3: Reporting, dissemination and use of evidence
  • Stage 4: Monitoring, follow up and data use

The guidance is available as .pdf file, an interactive file will also follow shortly.
