Baroness Verma, International Development Minister, said:

It is unacceptable that in nearly 80 countries LGB&T people are prevented from living the life theyd choose because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Thats why today we are proudly flying the rainbow flag to celebrate DFIDs work to protect the rights and dignity of all people. We are honoured to be part of London Pride 2016.

Simon McNorton, DFID staff member taking part in the Pride Parade, said:

Showing solidarity with my community by marching in Londons Pride Parade is important to me - its a real opportunity to be unashamedly myself right in the heart of London. So many other people are denied that freedom.

That is why I am proud to be part of the team delivering DFIDs pivotal work on Leave No One Behind, which ensures people across the world have the chance to participate in society whatever their situation.
