Registration for Taking Teaching Further 2024 is now open. Registration closes at 5pm on 14 June 2024.

Taking Teaching Further (TTF) is a 2-year programme that supports further education (FE) providers to recruit and provide early career support to those with relevant knowledge and industry experience, to retrain as FE teachers.

This page is forfurther education providers. There is more information for people who are interested in becoming anFEteacher fromTeach inFE.

TTF funding is available for new further education teachers who will teach across the 15 technical routes. These routes have been aligned to T Levels and technical qualifications approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).

Funding is also available to support recruits who will:

  • teach English, maths, or science
  • provide support to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

Available funding

Providers can apply for funding of either 15,200 or 21,200 per recruit, depending on the teacher training route taken. This funding is to cover the cost of an early career support package, including a reduced timetable, for new teaching recruits taking either:

  • an Ofqual-regulated, classroom-based teaching qualification at level 5 or higher
  • the learning and skills teacher apprenticeship

Guidance and eligibility for TTF 2024

TTF 2024 is open to eligible FE providers through 2 routes:

  • route 1 is open to general FE colleges, sixth-form colleges, land-based colleges and institutes of adult learning
  • route 2 is open to independent training providers, employer providers, third sector training providers, local authority providers, adult and community learning providers, and specialist post-16 institutions

For TTF 2024, we have made changes to the delivery model, which will reduce the administrative burden on colleges and providers.

There is more information on each of the application routes and the changes to the delivery model in the corresponding guidance documents:
