At the Competition and Market Authority (CMA)s request, Sainsburys has reviewed all its land agreements. The CMA has found that 18 of these agreements were not compliant with the Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010.

Sainsburys has taken, and continues to take, steps to correct these breaches and the CMA has published a letter sent to Sainsburys following its investigation of these breaches.

These breaches concern land agreements relating to 18 Sainsburys stores in:

  • Braidwater Retail Park, Ballymena
  • Villier Surmarne Avenue, Bishops Stortford
  • Thornhill, Cardiff
  • Fossbank, York
  • Guildford Street, Chertsey (on two separate occasions)
  • Wickersley, Rotherham
  • Clifton Way, Hinckley
  • Springfield, Chelmsford
  • Colchester Avenue, Cardiff
  • New England Street, Brighton
  • South Woodford, London (on two separate occasions)
  • Stevenage
  • Bedford Street, Kempston
  • Sprotbrough Avenue, Doncaster
  • Culcheth, Warrington
  • Ebrington Street, Plymouth
