Details

We have released a new version of the area SEND framework and handbook that will come into force on 1 January 2023. The existing guidance still applies in the meantime.

We ran a consultation on the framework and draft handbooks in summer 2022. We also ran a separate consultation for children and young people.

This framework sets out the inspection principles for local area inspections and should be read alongside the handbook.

Local areas can share the leaflet about the SEND inspections with children and young people and parents and carers.

Read outcome letters from joint local area SEND inspections.
