Open consultation: Biometric registration regulations: changes to the Code of Practice

Home Office

In 2018 the Home Office began issuing eVisas, which are an electronic record of immigration status and can be accessed and shared via GOV.UK

As part of the transition from physical documents to eVisas, which are another form of biometric immigration document, we need to update the 2008 biometric registration regulations and the associated Code of Practice, which needs to reflect the updated regulations. This includes updating the types of sanctions that may be imposed following an incidence of non-compliance with a requirement of th ebiometric regulations.

To ensure the sanctions are effective and proportionate, we are consulting on these changes. The consultation will explore how these sanctions would potentially be understood and effect individuals, including those who are vulnerable.
