Seminar: women and the criminal justice system (15 May 2014)

Academy for Justice Commissioning

May 16
00:00 2014

The seminar featured:

  • Dr Debra Baldwin, Female Offenders, MoJ Transforming Rehabilitation Programme
  • Amy Frost, Deputy Governor, HMP & YOI Holloway
  • Jackie Russell, Director, Womens Breakout

It is well documented that women offenders have complex needs and that sending them to prison can have devastating effects on not only the women but also their families. In this seminar Debra, Amy and Jackie discussed the challenges of managing women offenders and the work being done both in government and in the community to improve interventions to prevent re-offending and where possible divert women away from prison.
