General

Plymouth Combined Court update

Plymouth Combined Court will temporarily close on Friday 29 March 2024 to allow essential building maintenance works to take place,while minimising disruption by carrying out the works over the Easter bank holidays.

It will reopen on Monday 8 April 2024. During this time, there will be no counter service, postal deliveries or telephone service. Please send any communications during this period to the e-mail contact details below.

Normal service will resume when the building reopens. Hearings previously listed for this period have been re-scheduled.

New law to make justice more accessible for complex cases

The Lord Chancellor, Alex Chalk, will introduce a new law that aims to make it easier for members of the public to secure the financial backing of third parties when launching complex claims against larger corporations.

Department for Education recruitment campaign

The Department for Education has launched its Further Education (FE) Teacher Recruitment Campaign. The campaign aims to inspire industry professionals to share their valuable skills by becoming a part-time FE teacher, alongside their current job.

Encouraging more people with legal experience to teach part-time in FE can help develop a skilled workforce through industry-led training.

Inside the Criminal Courts

In the latest video in our Inside the Criminal Courts series, we hear from Janette, one of our delivery managers.

She tells us what makes a good person for the role and the importance of planning and organisation to help serve better justice.

Oxford Crown Court open day

Oxford Crown Court will be hosting an open day on Saturday 23 March 2024 from 10am to 2pm. Visitors will be able to speak with court staff and judges, visit the holding cells, explore a prison van, join a mock trial and much more.

Charity sector probate webinar

Were running a webinar for the charity sector on Monday 25 March 2024. Adam Lennon, Family Service Owner and Jeanine North, National Services Delivery Director for Probate, Family and video hearings, will provide an update on the services performance and take questions on future plans.
