This statement provides an update on the AAIB investigation into an accident involving a Scintex CP301-C1, G-CKCF, near Rochester, Kent, on 31 October 2022.
The aircraft settled into trees shortly after takeoff. The pilot suspected that the engine had suffered from carburettor icing and reported that the aircraft encountered turbulence sufficient to cause a loss of control. The investigation has considered factors that might have affected the aircraft’s performance, including takeoff weight, runway conditions and other environmental factors.
The investigation is nearing completion and the final report will be published shortly.
