This statement provides an update on the ongoing AAIB investigation into a serious incident involving a Leonardo AW139 which suffered a tail rotor duplex bearing failure which was found during post flight maintenance at Norwich Airport on 13 June 2022.
The investigation has identified the failure mechanism within the bearing and work continues to identify the causal and contributory factors which led to the failure.
