On 1st March 2017, Crown Commercial Service became the new custodian of the Framework Authority of the Crown Hosting Service (CHS), transferring from the Cabinet Office / Government Digital Service (GDS).
The CCS Cloud & Digital technology team is now responsible for setting the strategic direction of travel and commercial delivery.
CHS has a single supplier framework agreement for the provision of data centre colocation services to Central Government organisations and other public sector bodies. The supplier is Crown Hosting Data Centres Limited (CHDC).
One of the main aims of CHDC is to be the transition point in supporting the UK Governments Cloud First policy through implementation of a robust framework with public sector customers, from which it is easy to procure highly efficient data centre colocation services on a flexible contract basis.
The plan is for the current team working on Crown Hosting to transition to CCS. Due to the increasing portfolio of customers and overall growth planned, the business has made a strategic decision to align Crown Hosting with other commercial agreements, enabling wider commercial conversations with Central Government customers and better promotion across the Wider Public Sector.
The framework has been negotiated with the whole Public Sector data colocation requirement, constituting the best possible value-for money.
