Environment Agency staff want to talk to residents that have been recently affected by flooding and provide information about how they’re working to help reduce flood risk. They will also be providing information about how people can be better prepared. Representatives from Daventry District Council and Northamptonshire County Council will also be available to answer questions.
Yelvertoft has a history of flooding and was most recently affected in March 2016 when up to 20 homes were flooded.
Rob Lunt, Environment Agency Flood Resilience Adviser said:
It’s important that we speak to the community about their experiences of flooding. Flooding has a terrible impact on people’s lives but there are things that people can do to reduce the risks for themselves and their community. This is a great opportunity to find out more.
Information will also be available via the Yelvertoft Parish Council who is supporting us with this event. Knowing your flood risk is the first step to protecting your family and property.
