Apply online

The Environment Agency is testing a new online service for medium combustion plant and specified generator permit applications in England. You can sign up to use the new service and give feedback.

Apply using the spreadsheet

If you prefer, you can apply using the spreadsheet on this page. This verifies the standard rules permit you have selected based on the information you put in.

  1. Added that the Environment Agency is testing a new online service for medium combustion plant and specified generator permit applications in England. Added a link so you can sign up to use the new service and give feedback.

  2. The plant list column AG now always appears rather than being conditional to other supplied information. The comments box text on the topic of monitoring data has been amended. Removal of the option to select no in the declarations section of the application form. On the applications tab in part 4 the public bodies has been changed to Government Departments, Agencies and Public. Bodies

  3. The 'Rule set helper' tab has been updated to correct errors for backup generator plant.

  4. Removed text about the privacy notice and GDPR and replaced with a link to the permitting privacy notice on GOV.UK as this is more up to date. On the 'applicants tab made clear we only require MM/YYYY for the date of birth.On the Introduction tab added SR 2022 No9 under the guidance for common windshields.

  5. Published an updated version. This version has resolved bugs on the rule set helper tab and improves how the operator can add plant to existing permits.

  6. Uploaded a new version of the application form. The new version includes the new permit SR2022 number 9 and incorporates the changes to SR2018 number 7.

  7. We have published a new version of the form. The Introduction and Privacy Notice text has been updated along with corrections to errors in the rule set helper tab. In the application tab - import functionality improved; additional questions and drop-downs options added and the form functionality improved.

  8. We have published a new version of the form. The new form asks for more information, including details about the plant model, dual fuel and operating hours. It also prompts you to submit required information so that we can progress your application efficiently.

  9. We've published a new version of this application form to take account of changes to the Regulations and the standard rules permits.
