A theory test costs 23 for cars, and the driving test costs 62. The full costs for lorries, buses, motorcycles and other vehicles are shown in the tables.

These are the prices to book your theory test and book your driving test through GOV.UK. Unofficial websites usually charge more.

Lorry, minibus, bus and coach

To become a lorry or bus driver you usually need to take the 4 Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) tests. You only need to take 2 of the tests in some cases.

The costs are the same for all categories of lorry and bus, such as C1, C, D1, and D.

Your part 3a test may cost up to 40 if you choose to take it with an approved test provider instead of with DVSA.

Rebooking your test

You have to pay the full amount again if you do not pass your test and want to book another one.

Evening and weekend driving tests

Driving test centres do not offer evening and weekend driving tests all of the time.

All available evening and weekend driving test appointments are shown when you book your driving test or find an earlier test date.

Tests taken from 4:30pm onwards count as evening tests.
