People urged to be prepared for flooding
The Environment Agency warns people to be flood aware following Met Office forecasts of signficant downpours this weekend.

Heavy and persistent rainfall is expected to affect parts of northern England on Saturday evening and into Sunday bringing a risk of significant river and localised surface water flooding for northern England and the Midlands.

The Environment Agency is monitoring the situation closely and will issue flood alerts and warnings if required. We have teams out on the ground, clearing blockages in rivers and culverts.

The public are urged not to drive through flood water. We encourage drivers to check the flood risk for their entire route before they travel.

People should check their flood risk and keep up to date with the latest situation at https://www.gov.uk/check-if-youre-at-risk-of-flooding or follow @EnvAgency and #floodaware on Twitter for the latest flood updates.
