The Games Rating Authority is an independent, non-governmental body that classifies video games content in the UK. Dame Janet Paraskeva was appointed as Vice Chair in July 2022.

The government plays no role in making appointments to the Games Rating Authority. However, under the Video Recordings Act 1984 the government routinely accords designated authority status to the Games Rating Authoritys senior leadership. This allows them to carry out their classification functions.

The proposal to designate Dame Janet Paraskeva, and the accompanying explanatory memorandum, were laid in Parliament on 2 December 2024.
