Details

In October 2022, the Department for Transport (DfT) commissioned an independent report by Philip New to help understand the conditions needed to create a viable long-term sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) industry in the UK.

The report builds on evidence gathered by DfT and from Philip News own investigations and interviews with relevant parties. The conclusions are his own and do not represent government policy.

The response reflects the governments views on the reports findings and recommendations. It also confirms that the government will continue to work in partnership with stakeholders and, if required, following that work, launch a formal government consultation in the summer.
