Change or reset your password

Change your password

You can change your password in your GOV.UK One Login. To do this:

1. Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
2. Go to Security.
3. Under Your sign in details, find the row for Password and select change.
4. Enter your current password and select Continue.
5. Enter a new password and select Continue.

Reset your password

If youve forgotten your password, you can reset it. To do this:

1. Go to sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
2. Select Sign in.
3. Enter your email address.
4. On the Enter password screen, select the link that says Ive forgotten my password.
5. Check your email for a security code.
6. Enter the security code and select Continue.
7. Enter a new password and select Continue.
8. Enter a security code - you will get this by text message or from your authenticator app.

Change your phone number

You can change the phone number you use to get security codes to sign in. To do this:

1. Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
2. Go to Security.
3. Under How you get security codes, find the row for Text message and select change.
4. Enter your password and select Continue.
5. Enter a new phone number and select Continue.
6. Check your phone for a text message containing a security code.
7. Enter the security code and select Continue.

If youve lost access to your phone

If youve lost access to your phone number or changed it, you can change how you get security codes, as long as you have not reset your password since you last signed in.

To change how you get security codes:

1. Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
2. Enter your password.
3. When asked to enter the security code, select Problems with the code.
4. Select change how you get security codes - this will send a code to your email address.
5. Enter the code from your email.
6. Choose how you want to get security codes - this can be a new phone number or an authenticator app.

Your old phone number will be deleted from your GOV.UK One Login.

Change your email address

You can change your email address in your GOV.UK One Login. To do this:

1. Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login.
2. Go to Security.
3. Under Your sign in details, find the row for Email and select change.
4. Enter your password and select Continue.
5. Enter a new email address and select Continue.
6. Check your email for a security code.
7. Enter the security code and select Continue.
