HMCTS operational summary for week commencing Monday 14 August 2023

General

  • Update: The Crown Court will work at maximum capacity for the third year running to reduce waiting times to deliver access to justice. The decision to continue not to cap judicial sitting days will mean the Crown Court can hear the highest possible number of criminal cases this year.The government is also extending a separate capacity boost to allow the Immigration and Asylum Tribunals to work through asylum appeals as quickly as possible and remove unnecessary delays while cases are considered.   • Update: Were proud to be a part of the PIPES network in Leeds, which is encouraging a more sustainable future and helping to reduce our carbon footprint. Read more about the project.

  • Update: Weve published the latest monthly management information to understand workload volumes and timeliness in courts and tribunals at a national level. View our management information for June 2022 to June 2023.

  • Reminder: HMCTS is now a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network. Sunflower lanyards are now available in all court and tribunal buildings for court users who have hidden disabilities. Read more about the Sunflower Network in HMCTS.

Common Platform

  • Reminder: Every Crown and magistrates court now has access to the Common Platform system, which will allow quicker and seamless sharing of information between all those involved in criminal justice cases. Find out more about Common Platform.

  • Reminder: CEO, Nick Goodwin, reflects on completing the roll out of Common Platform to all criminal courts and what improvements are still to come.

  • Reminder: Legal professionals can join one of our regularonline support sessions to get help with activating or logging into your account, accessing case information,checking in for a hearing or any other aspect of Common Platform. Sessions take place on Tuesdays at 4:30pm and Thursdays at 9am. Book a drop-in session.
