Details

Use this form to apply for a temporary land association (TLA) or temporary county parish holding (tCPH) number.

Read the guidance on getting a TLA or tCPH before you fill in the form to check you can apply.

A TLA is for land and buildings within 10 miles of your main livestock gathering area. A tCPH is for land and buildings more than 10 miles from this point.

You must get a county parish holding (CPH) number before you can get a TLA or tCPH number.

If you need advice, contact the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).

How to complete this form

Use one copy of this form to apply for either:

  • one or more TLAs (complete all sections apart from section 5)
  • one tCPH (complete all sections)

Complete all boxes marked with an asterisk (*).

You need to fill in separate forms for each tCPH you want to apply for. If you want to apply for a TLA and tCPH at the same time, you need to fill in one form for the TLA and another for the tCPH.

To complete this form electronically, you need to download it and save it to your computer before you fill it in. You need to save the form again when youve completed it.

To complete a paper copy, print the form and fill it in using:

  • black ink
  • block capitals (except for your email address)

For each field or building included in your application, you must give a 12 character Ordnance Survey (OS) grid reference (2 letters followed by 10 numbers).

How to find an OS grid reference

Use the Ordnance Survey. Follow these instructions.

  1. Using the search facility at the top left of the page, search for a county, place or postcode.
  2. Using the map, locate your main livestock gathering area. Use the +/- icons to zoom in and out.
  3. Right click on each individual building or field to find the OS grid reference.

Sign the declaration

Make sure you sign the declaration in section 6. Only the applicant can sign this, not someone completing the form on their behalf.

You can either:

  • use an electronic signature
  • print the form and sign it

Where to send the form

Send it to temporaryland@apha.gov.uk or:

What happens next

APHA aims to process applications within 10 working days. It may take longer if:

  • your application is inaccurate
  • the form is incomplete
  • they need to carry out a bovine TB veterinary risk assessment

If you have a 7000 series (landless keeper) CPH number, you must contact APHA to register as a livestock keeper.

Theyll send you a flock or herd mark to identify animals born on your holding. You can also choose to use it for sheep or goats born elsewhere which have lost their original tags.
