Employers or providers should find an end-point assessment organisation for their apprentice early on during the apprenticeship.

Unless the assessment plan states otherwise, employers or providers should not select their apprentices training organisation to be the end-point assessment organisation (EPAO).

Training providers, prospective EPAOs and other organisations can use the spreadsheet of end-point assessment organisations on the apprenticeship provider and assessment register (APAR) to see lists of organisations approved to conduct an independent end-point assessment of apprentices and be in receipt of public funds.

The register list of standards shows which organisations can provide assessment for specific standards.

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) has published a list of external quality assurance (EQA) providers for each apprenticeship standard.

Selecting an organisation that is not listed on the APAR

If you want to use an EPAO that is not on the APAR, that organisation must apply and be listed against the apprenticeship standard before you can consider it.

Selecting an EPAO when none are listed on the APAR against an apprenticeship standard

You will not be able to select an EPAO for your apprentice until at least one organisation is listed on APAR for that apprenticeship standard.
