The Community Life Survey is a nationally representative annual survey of adults (16+) in England that aims to track the latest trends and developments across areas that are key to encouraging social action and empowering communities.
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is interested in producing local authority (LA) estimates for key Community Life Survey metrics. The objective of this research was to test the suitability of using a model-based approach to generate LA-level metrics without increasing the current Community Life Survey sample size.
The analysis in this report is based on eight years of Community Life Survey data (2013-2021). The report compares model-based estimates for 43 LAs in England to those obtained directly from the survey sample.
