If youre starting or returning to a course soon, youll be looking forward to your first student finance payment. You can check your payment schedule and status by signing in to your online account.

Follow our 3 easy steps to help you get paid on time:

1. Make sure youve submitted your application and provided any evidence we need. Sign in to your online account and check your application tracker in case you still have any actions to complete.

How to check your payment schedule

What your payment status means

The payment statuses that show in your online account have been updated, so theyre a bit different to what they were last year.

Check what your payment status means in the table below:

Payment status What this means for you
Indicative Your payment status will show as indicative until we receive your bank details. Once we have these, your payment status will change to awaiting confirmation.
Awaiting confirmation Were waiting to receive confirmation of your registration/enrolment from your university or college, they usually send us this once youve registered/enrolled for the start of term. Once we have this, youll move to a new status called ready to be paid.
Ready to be paid Your registration/enrolment is complete and youre on track to get your first term payment on the date shown in your account. Well send you a text when your payment is on its way.
Paid Your payment has been successfully made to your bank account.
Failed Your payment was unsuccessful and your bank has returned the money to us. Check your bank details are correct in your online account.

Checking if weve received confirmation of your registration/enrolment

You dont need to call us to check, the quickest and easiest way to find out if weve received confirmation of registration/enrolment is by checking your application status and payment status.

Use the table below to understand what each status means:

Application status Payment status What this means
Confirming all details Awaiting confirmation Weve not received confirmation of registration
Receiving payments Ready to be paid Confirmation of registration received

If your university or college have told you theyve sent confirmation of registration/enrolment to us, you should allow time for the status in your online account to be updated as this can take up to 48 hours. Well send you a text when your payment is on its way to your bank account.

Visit our application status page for more information on what your status means.

If youre getting less student finance than you expected

If youve applied late or havent provided the household income details we need yet, you may get a smaller amount of student finance to begin with. This is to make sure you have some money in time for starting your course.

Once youve provided your household income details and weve processed them, well adjust your entitlement and send you a top up payment as soon as we can.

For more information on how applying late may affect you, check out our dedicated page.
