The government asks the NIC to conduct a new study on how technology can improve infrastructure productivity. New technologies in areas like digitalisation, the internet of things, big data, and artificial intelligence will create opportunities for improving the way we manage infrastructure. So the government has asked the NIC to explore which emerging technologies have the most potential for improving infrastructure productivity, and to make recommendations to government on what actions it should consider to support deployment. In addition, the letter welcomes the interim report on Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford, noting transport measures announced at Autumn Statement and endorsing work on joined up planning and governance structures going forward to deliver infrastructure, housing and jobs.
