Details

These reports contain results from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) TB surveillance in confirmed and potential hotspots in the Low Risk Area of England.

The Low Risk Area is an area with low and stable numbers of herds infected with TB. Within the Low Risk Area, there are 2 types of TB hotspots:

  • potential hotspots areas where there are a group of breakdowns from an uncertain origin that need further investigation through enhanced cattle and wildlife surveillance
  • confirmed hotspots areas where APHA has identified TB in local wildlife via the found dead survey and linked it to cattle breakdowns through Whole Genome Sequencing

APHA monitors levels of TB in herds within these hotspots through enhanced surveillance of cattle and wildlife.

Read previous reports on TB surveillance in the Low Risk Area of England on the National Archives website.

APHA also publishes reports on TB surveillance of badgers and other wildlife across all areas of England.
