Guidance: Apply for Trust Establishment and Growth (TEG) funding

What is the fund

This fund supports activities in the initial stage of development of a trust growth project.

It is available to:

  • trusts
  • schools
  • dioceses
  • other organisations looking to establish a new multi-academy trust (MAT)

The Trust Establishment and Growth (TEG) fund is part of a package that supports the growth ofMATs, particularly those ineducation investment areas (EIAs).

Applications are open between 3 April 2023 and 30 September 2024.

The Trust Capacity Fund (TCaF) 2023 to 2025 is also part of this package.

If your TEG project develops into a growth project and is approved by a regional director, then you can apply to TCaF 2023 to 2025.

How to apply

All applicants should contact their relevant regional directors office to discuss the proposal.

Apply for the TEG fund using the application form and expenditure plan. These must be emailed to the grant delivery team at TEG.Fund@education.gov.uk.

Applying if you are in an EIA

If your project involves schools in an EIA, you must read the relevant EIA trust development statements to ensure your application responds to the trust growth needs for the area.

You must also discuss your application with the relevant regional directors office.

If your project involves schools that are not in anEIA, you must discuss your application with the relevant regional directors office to ensure your project fits with the regional directors priorities for the area.
