Details
This report summarises the results of a survey commissioned by the Department for Transport, investigating the overall impact of strike action on rail passengers across the English rail network. The report presents evidence on changes to rail passengers travel behaviours in response to rail strikes, and related impacts on rail passengers social, economic, and personal lives.
This research used an on-train self-completion survey methodology. In total, 17,383 responses were collected across four phases of fieldwork between July and October 2022, with each phase of research taking place in the weeks following a period of strike action.
A full report including more detailed reporting on the methodology and findings of the survey is being finalised and will be published shortly.
