We are particularly interested in what fishers think of the vision and goals proposed for the FMP and any other matters relating to the FMP during sessions in February and March. There will also be sessions online for fishers who may struggle to meet in person.

Further details of the vision and goals, along with more specific information about location and timings for the discussions, will be communicated over the coming month.

We are encouraging fishermen to keep an eye on MMO social media channels, our website and for posters in harbours to find out more.

Currently, the quayside sessions are planned for:

  • Tues 21 Feb Rye, Hastings, Gosport, Poole
  • Wed 22 Feb Portsmouth, Hastings, Selsey
  • Thurs 23 Feb Shoreham, Eastbourne, Brighton, Newhaven
  • Tues 7 March Weymouth, Lyme Regis
  • Wed 8 March Newlyn, Lyme Regis, Axmouth
  • Thurs 9 March Fowey, Exmouth, Looe, Plymouth
  • Fri 10 March Mevagissey, Brixham

Our online sessions are currently planned for:

  • Monday 20th Feb
  • Wednesday 22nd Feb
  • Tuesday 7th March
  • Thursday 9th March

This is the second series of meetings to be held with fishers on the south coast as part of development of the Channel demersal non-quota species FMP.

In the meantime, a working group with industry representatives and an evidence advisory group have been set up and are working on developing the plan, ahead of a formal consultation later this year. Details on the Channel FMP and working group meetings can be found on our website.

If you have any questions or points to make ahead of the meetings or wish to be included in our dedicated stakeholder updates, please email us at FMP@ma
