Details

The UK Space Agency is inviting applications for UK support to the ARTES Scylight programme to develop technologies, products, and services in optical and quantum telecommunications to lead or take part in OPS-SAT VOLT and a second call for applications for Lunar Communications.

Up to 7,000,000 of funding being made available to support the development of the test bed satellite platform, payloads and ground segment. Up to 1,500,000 of funding is being made available to support the development of Lunar Communications. No upper or lower limit has been set for individual projects. All proposals must be matched funded to be eligible. Further details on eligibility requirements are contained in the guidance.

Please read the guidance on how to apply for UK support and note the requirement to submit an Expression of Interest, prior to the submission of your proposal.

The calls open on Thursday 22 September 2022 and will close at midday on Friday 4 November 2022. Expression of Interest will be considered on a rolling basis but must be received before 21 October. The UK Space Agency aims to notify all applicants of the results of their proposals by January 2023.

The call is being run in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA). Applicants who are invited to apply after submitting an Expression of Interest will need to submit a UK Space Agency Application Form and anESAOutline Proposal to the UK Space Agency andto ESAby the closing date. This is to allow consideration of proposals by the UK Space Agency andESAin parallel and to reduce the time to award for successful applicants.

The UK Space Agency reserves the right to consider any application under a different programme line if there more suitable funding opportunities are available.

  1. Funding call opens: 22 September 2022.
  2. Deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest: 21 October 2022 at noon GMT.
  3. Deadline for submission of proposals: 4 November 2022 at noon GMT. This includes submission of anESAOutline Proposal.
  4. Notification of outcomes from UK Delegate: January 2023 (contracts will be awarded by ESA and applicants must still be successful in their bid to ESA).
