Details

You can use this form to record the progress your pupils make through their driving lessons. Its sometimes called the drivers record.

If youre a learner driver, you can ask your driving instructor to record your progress on this form.

You can either keep this form or give it to your pupil and ask them to bring it to each lesson.

You must not use digital versions of the forms on a tablet or mobile device. Its illegal to use a tablet or mobile device when youre supervising a provisional licence holder.

There are 2 versions of the form:

  • lesson-by-lesson progress
  • progress summary

Use the version that works best for you and your pupils.

Theres a separate form for your pupil to record the private practice they do without you.

Lesson-by-lesson progress

The lesson-by-lesson progress version of the form includes spaces to record:

  • the date of each individual lesson
  • what level your pupil achieved on each of the 27 skills during that lesson

Progress summary

The progress summary version of the form shows the 5 progress levels against each of the 27 skills. You can add the date or tick when your pupil consistently shows that level of progress. Its important that your pupil understands they can move both up and down the levels of progress.
