Details

Historic buildings restoration grant is open for applications, provided you applied for the implementation grant by 29 June 2018. The deadline for submission of PA2 and HE2 applications is now 30 March 2020. All work must be completed within 2 years of the agreement start date, and all claims must be submitted within a further 3 months.

You may be able to apply for this pilot scheme if your building is in one of these National Parks:

  • Northumberland
  • Lake District
  • Yorkshire Dales
  • Peak District
  • Dartmoor

Use the manual to understand:

  • the aims and benefits of the grant
  • who can apply
  • how to apply
  • the requirements and conditions

How to apply

The application process has 3 stages.

Stage 1 - Pre-application

Your implementation plan (PA1) grant application had to be received by Natural England by 29 June 2018.

Stage 2 - Complete a management plan

When you get your implementation plan agreement, you need to work with your National Park adviser to:

  • develop a project brief
  • obtain competitive quotations from 3 experienced conservation consultants to oversee the restoration work
  • submit an application for a feasibility study (PA2) grant

Once your feasibility study grants agreed, the consultant must use the project brief to develop the building restoration management plan. Your National Park adviser can support preparation of the management plan and must approve it before you obtain formal tenders from contractors for the work.

You must complete the management plan before the 30 March 2020 deadline for stage 3.

Stage 3 - Apply for a historic building restoration grant

Your application must be received by Natural England by 30 March 2020.
