Speaking today, Minister for Asia Hugo Swire said:
I welcome the news that Japan and the Republic of Korea have reached this agreement which recognises the deep pain and suffering these women have endured. Both countries are important partners for the UK. I look forward to todays agreement paving the way for deeper cooperation between them and for increased stability in the region.
