Details

If youve made a repayment to your student loan in a previous tax year but your income was below the annual repayment threshold, you could get a refund.

Find out what the previous annual repayment threshold was for Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 4 and Postgraduate student loans.

Remember if we refund you, the amount you get will be added back onto your total balance.

How to ask for a refund

You do not need to complete a separate form for each year youre asking for a refund.To ask for a refund you should follow these steps:

  1. Complete all sections of the Refund Request Form and check your changes are saved. You can complete this on screen - you may need a PDF reader to do it (for example, Adobe Reader).

  2. Return the form by email to below_threshold_refunds@slc.co.uk

  3. Youll get an automatic reply to confirm weve received it.

Please dont send us your bank details by email, you can check and change your bank details using your online account.

If we need anything else from you, well contact you. You dont need to contact us about your refund.

If youre asking for a refund for another reason, dont use this form.You should check www.gov.uk/repaying-your-student-loan/getting-a-refund to find out how to get a refund.
